Slid off my writing

10 02 2010

OK, oops! I fell off the blog assignment. First week of January was great and I’m moving forward on projects, then: Bang! Darkness crept in. It might have been the weather, but man my days got dreary and I descended into depression.  I couldn’t help it, it got me.

And, now this first week of February it has gotten better. Even choosing to feel good just didn’t help. I believe there are deeper and darker patterns that we humans do get caught up in.

About a year ago I read this book about crisis and the ways we react to crisis. There are 4 patterns; depression, rage, denial, & anxiety.

I’m a depression type, which means when problems or perceived problems show up, I go into a depression behavior. I don’t need medicine or anything like that, I usually pop out of pattern, given some time.

The book is “Welcome to your Crisis” by Laura Day. In this book the author teaches you how to recognize your crisis pattern and ways to get out of it.

I like knowing my patterns, both good and bad. As a coach it’s very helpful to the client to discover their patterns.  I say check this book out, learn a little more about yourself. It’s better to know more about yourself than to spend time dealing with the unknown and unexamined.

In the meantime keep choosing happiness  or at least choose thoughts that will keep yourself focused forward.
