Ok, Pick Again

21 09 2011

Today was a good reminder for me. I very easily forgot that I have choice. What choice do I want to live thru.

What happened was that I witnessed a co-worker today who had selected the choice to be miserable at work. She grumped, whined and looked that she was run over by the unhappy train. She selected a less spacious or restrictive mood. She had forgotten that she has choice or intentions available  to select from. She simply could have stopped her misery train and decided to on a much more spacious thought pattern. A choice that would have given her  some relief.

We all do this and there is a skill of catching yourself when these choice seem to overrun our lives. There are those folks who practice mindfulness, which is being full aware of where you are in every moment of your day. Awareness of your moods, emotions, thoughts and patterns.

I am practicing my meditation, but at this moment I’m not fully aware. It’s coming and most of us don’t want to take the time to work on becoming full aware.

So, my suggestion is to try to become aware of as much of your life as you can.  Also, design others in your plan to help/support you when you fall into a puddle of unhappy. They can simply mention that you seem to be… Is that what you want at this moment?

I could have been this co-workers alarm clock, ringing when the grumpy has show up, or something like that . I actually think I need to design this with more people in my life.

What about you?
